Overview
This page explains what information CreateZcale collects, why, and how it is handled (the Privacy Policy), followed by the Terms of Service that govern your use of the app. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Information We Collect
Account information — when you create an account or sign in with Google, we collect your email address and a secure authentication token. This is managed by Google Firebase Authentication. You can also use the app as a guest without an account.
Usage analytics — Firebase Analytics collects aggregated data about how you use the app: which screens you visit, how long sessions last, and general device information (OS version, device model, language). We use this to understand feature usage and improve the app.
Advertising — CreateZcale is free and supported by ads shown to users who have not purchased the ad-free option. We use Google AdMob to display these ads. AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier to serve and measure ads. In regions that require it (such as the EEA and UK), you may be shown a consent prompt for personalised ads. Purchases — if you buy the optional "Remove Ads" upgrade, the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing and managed via RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of the purchase and its status (so we can deliver and restore it), but we never receive or store your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Google.
Crash reports — Firebase Crashlytics automatically collects crash logs and device state when the app encounters an error. This helps us find and fix bugs. Crash reports do not include your images or editing data.
Profile information — your display name and profile picture, if you choose to set them. Stored locally on your device. If you sign in with Google, your Google account email and profile photo may be imported to populate your in-app profile.
Editing preferences and presets — your app settings, editing presets, projects, and workflow preferences are stored locally on your device in the app's private storage. These are not transmitted to any server.
What We Do Not Collect
- Your photos or images — all editing happens on your device
- Location data — the app does not request or use location
- Contacts or call logs
- Payment card details — in-app purchases are processed by Google Play; we never see or store your card information
Camera and Media Access
CreateZcale requests camera access so you can capture photos directly inside the app. Photos you take or import are processed on your device only. The app does not automatically upload any media to external servers.
Microphone access is used solely by in-app audio features (such as beat detection) while they are active. Audio is processed on-device in real time and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.
Photo and video library access (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO) is used only to let you pick media to edit. The app reads only the items you select.
Third-Party Services
CreateZcale uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase — authentication, analytics, and crash reporting. Firebase Privacy Policy

Apart from the advertising identifier shared with Google AdMob to serve ads, we do not share your data with any other third parties, and we never sell your personal data.
Data Retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Analytics and crash data are retained according to Google Firebase's default retention policies (up to 90 days for analytics events; crash data retained while our Firebase project is active).
Local app data — preferences, presets, projects, and editing history — is stored on your device and is removed when you delete your account in-app, uninstall the app, or clear its data.
Security
CreateZcale applies several layers of protection to your data:
- Hardware-backed encrypted storage (AES-256-GCM) for your app-lock PIN, which is salted and hashed with PBKDF2 — your PIN is never stored in plain text
- Other app preferences and presets are kept in the app's private, sandboxed storage that other apps cannot read
- PIN-based app lock with a configurable auto-lock timeout
- Privacy Mode, which blocks screenshots and hides app content in the device's recent-apps view
Your Rights & Account Deletion
Delete your account at any time, from inside the app: open Profile, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account. This permanently deletes your Firebase account and erases all associated data on your device — your profile, presets, projects, and settings. This cannot be undone.
You may also request deletion by emailing us at the address below; we will process the request within 30 days.
You have the right to access and correct your personal data. If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have additional rights under GDPR, including data portability and the right to object to processing. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
Children
CreateZcale is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be communicated through the app. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised.
Terms of Service
By downloading, accessing, or using CreateZcale ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Licence. CreateZcale grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for lawful purposes on devices you own or control.
Educational content. The app provides image-editing tools and educational material about photography and video. This content is provided for general informational purposes and is not professional advice.
Your content. You retain all rights to images, video, and other content you create or edit with the app. Because editing happens on your device, you are solely responsible for your content and for keeping your own backups.
Acceptable use. You agree not to misuse the app, including by reverse-engineering it beyond what the law permits, using it to infringe others' rights, or attempting to disrupt its operation.
Intellectual property. The app, its design, code, and branding are owned by CreateZcale and protected by applicable laws. Third-party components are used under their respective open-source licences.
Disclaimer & limitation of liability. The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, CreateZcale is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data arising from your use of the app.
Termination. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated.
Changes. We may update these Terms as the app evolves; continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
Trademarks
All brand and product names referenced in CreateZcale's educational content — including but not limited to ProRes (Apple Inc.), DNxHD (Avid Technology), YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Spotify, Apple Music, Disney, and Studio Ghibli — are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners.
CreateZcale is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of these companies. References to these names are purely informational and educational, describing industry-standard formats, platforms, and techniques.
